The following information is for coaches of Brookville Middle School as it pertains to the coaching education requirements in compliance with the Virginia High School League.
Brookville Middle School is committed to investing in our coaches. Coaches are with our students in an extracurricular environment providing meaningful relationships and using sports as a vehicle to help motivate students inside the classroom.
The following must be completed by all coaches within Brookville Middle School. Please reach out to the Athletic Director for reimbursement of fees or with any questions in regards to these trainings, especially if you think you have previously met a requirement before being hired at Brookville Middle School
If you are a teacher, these requirements should also qualify for points in the recertification process for your teaching license.
*Coaches, see the Bookkeeper to establish a PO PRIOR to paying/taking a courses. Once you pay and complete courses, you will turn in your receipts to the Bookkeeper to receive reimbursement.

approved for 12 clock hours and can be used for teacher recertification
Sports First Aid Course

Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition and Intervention Training

If you are employed as a teacher this should have been done to achieve your teaching license in VA

CPR/AED Training

For this requirement, training does not have to result in a certification

Concussion Training

This requirement must be completed each year
Submit Certificate of Completion to the Athletic Director
Approved for 1 clock hour and can be used for teacher recertification
Local Knowledge Component
-Coaches are required to complete a local component that familiarizes the coach with rules, regulations, and expectations of the local school and/or school division.
-Items such as:
Concussion baseline testing
Physicals and protocols
Out of season conditionings and workouts
Dead periods
etc
- The local component shall be administered by the local school and/or school division.
-This will be issued by the Principal/Athletic Director upon hire.
