Brookville Choral Music 2015-16

Darryl Knott, Chorus Teacher

Chorus classes are open to all middle school students regardless of grade level and/or musical background.

Beginning Chorus - students are assigned to this level of Chorus if they are a first time singer at BMS, or if they have been assigned by the director based on their past performance skill level. Students will be instructed in beginning music reading activities to help them better follow a piece of choral music, as well as lessons in music history and appreciation in order to become better musicians. Students will also learn proper choral performance skills, discipline and etiquette. There will be 3 required performances during the year. (dates are listed below)

Intermediate Chorus - students are assigned to this level group by the director based on their past performance skill level, no matter what grade they are entering having taken Chorus at BMS for at least one year. Expectations for these students will be higher which will be reflected in the grading of their daily participation. Students will continue the instruction of music reading/theory and appreciation. With vocal changes taking place during these years, it is important to keep the student singing through the changes. Performance music is chosen to accommodate the variety of vocal levels and advanced abilities of the students. There will be 3 required performances during the year. (dates are listed below)
